Morocco, under the visionary leadership of King Mohammed VI, is charting a course toward inclusive digital transformation that places women at the center of innovation and technological progress, said the Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, on Tuesday in Paris.
Speaking at the 16th Economic Meetings of the Arab World Institute, held under the theme “Women, Business and Innovation”, Seghrouchni underscored Morocco’s commitment to ensuring that women play a leading role in shaping the country’s digital future.
“Our responsibility is to remove all financial and technological barriers so that women’s leadership can permeate the entire value chain—from the laboratory to the factory, from start-ups to public administration,” she said.
The minister emphasized that women’s empowerment in the digital era depends on expanding access to education, mentorship, and financing. She pointed out that Morocco’s initiatives are focused on bridging existing gender gaps in economic participation and fostering equitable access to digital infrastructure.
To address these challenges, Seghrouchni advocated for the creation of Euro-Arab training pathways tailored to young women, enhancing employability through programs centered on artificial intelligence and small business innovation.
She highlighted that Morocco’s digital ambitions are being translated into concrete action through major partnerships launched this year. Among them is a memorandum of understanding with Mistral AI, a company specializing in generative artificial intelligence, designed to boost research and development and promote Morocco’s “pragmatic digital sovereignty” based on open standards.
The minister also cited the We-Elevate initiative, launched in partnership with the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), which aims to equip young women with digital, AI, entrepreneurship, and e-commerce skills through structured capacity-building programs.
In addition, Seghrouchni announced the recent creation of the Morocco Hub “Digital for Sustainable Development”, a collaborative platform developed with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and several key digital-sector stakeholders. The hub seeks to leverage digital tools to advance sustainability and inclusivity across sectors.
The Moroccan official called for stronger Euro-Arab cooperation to empower women in the digital economy, stressing that joint investments in knowledge exchange and innovation could foster inclusive ecosystems where women entrepreneurs thrive.
“Shared efforts in capacity building and technology transfer can transform the digital landscape of the Global South,” she affirmed, “creating sustainable growth driven by women’s innovation and leadership.”
Seghrouchni’s address reflected Morocco’s broader vision for a digitally inclusive society—one where gender equality is not only a social objective but also a strategic lever for economic competitiveness and global cooperation.
