Morocco, Egypt Discuss Boosting Transport Cooperation

The Moroccan Minister of Transport and Logistics Mohamed Abdeljalil and the Egyptian Minister of Transport Kamel Al-Wazir discussed, Tuesday in Marrakech, ways to boost cooperation between the two countries in the transport field.

During this meeting, held on the sidelines of the 1 the 11th edition of the World Congress of the International Union of Railways (UIC) on high speed, held in Marrakech on March 07-09, the two parties welcomed the excellent bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries in the field of transport, the Ministry of Transport and Logistics said in a statement.

Similarly, they expressed their willingness to implement technical cooperation projects, through implementing the final version of the draft agreements exchanged between the two parties in the field of maritime transport, rail transport and road safety, as well as strengthening cooperation with a view to developing the capacities of both countries, the statement added.

In the field of maritime transport, the two ministers expressed their willingness to deepen consultations to develop maritime transport between the two countries through finalizing draft Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of maritime transport, exchanged in 2020.

In the field of road safety, both sides stressed the importance of intensifying consultations to develop the draft agreement on technical cooperation in the fight against traffic accidents, the approval of vehicles and technical inspection of vehicles, which was exchanged between the two countries in 2016.

Regarding rail transport, they agreed to intensify exchanges between the National Railways Office (ONCF) and Railways in Egypt to reach the final version of the draft agreement on technical cooperation that the office exchanged with its Egyptian counterpart in January 2020, said the statement.
