Morocco, France Discuss Means to Step up Economic Ties

The strengthening of economic relations between Morocco and France was the focus of discussions, held on Tuesday in Rabat, between Morocco's Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah Alaoui, and France's Minister Delegate in charge of foreign trade and attractiveness, Franck Riester.

During this meeting, Fettah Alaoui and Riester reaffirmed their willingness to work together to consolidate and strengthen cooperation between the Kingdom and the French Republic, in the context of a mutually beneficial partnership, said a statement from the ministry of Economy and Finance.

On this occasion, the two officials stressed the excellence and sustainability of bilateral economic and financial cooperation, marked by density and diversity,  the statement added.

In addition, the two parties welcomed the quality of relations between Morocco and France and the exceptional and lasting character that has always marked the strategic partnership between the two countries.

During this meeting, Fettah Alaoui recalled the main outlines of the governmental program which were based on the Royal High Orientations and the conclusions of the New Development Model, adding that the objective is to establish a social state with three main priorities, namely a job-creating economy, health and education.

The minister underlined the Kingdom's efforts at different levels, which respond to the health crisis and instill a new recovery dynamic, highlighting the ambitious reform of the sector of public institutions and enterprises.

For his part, Riester, who was accompanied by Hélène Le Gal, France's Ambassador to Morocco, presented the priority projects undertaken by France, as part of its recovery post-crisis program, in terms of foreign trade and attractiveness, highlighting the strategic importance given by France to strengthening economic relations with Morocco.

This meeting is part of Riester's two-day visit to Morocco, during which he met several officials and representatives of the public and private sectors.
