Morocco–France Economic Forum to Spotlight Dakhla’s Strategic Potential on October 9

The General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) and the Movement of French Enterprises (MEDEF), through the France-Morocco Business Leaders Club, are set to host a high-level Morocco–France Economic Forum in Dakhla on October 9, 2025.

The forum comes in the wake of the recent state visit to Morocco by French President Emmanuel Macron, who, at the invitation of King Mohammed VI, reaffirmed that the present and future of the Sahara lie firmly within Moroccan sovereignty, according to a joint statement from CGEM and MEDEF.

Beyond political symbolism, the event aims to deepen the robust economic and trade relations between Morocco and France, further consolidating ties that span decades.

Dakhla’s selection as the venue carries both strategic and economic significance. The southern Moroccan city has emerged as a hub for major investments and a gateway for regional and continental trade, reflecting the Kingdom’s economic dynamism and openness.

For French business leaders, the forum provides a unique opportunity to explore an emerging market that combines national appeal with a bridge between Europe and Africa, opening avenues for investment and partnerships.

The forum will serve as a platform to strengthen existing partnerships, uncover new synergies, and enhance cooperation between French and Moroccan enterprises.

Delegates are expected to discuss opportunities across strategic sectors including renewable energy, infrastructure and logistics, sustainable tourism and hospitality, agribusiness and food security, innovative services and digital technologies, as well as training and skills development.

CGEM and MEDEF emphasised that this gathering is part of a long-term vision for sustained bilateral economic engagement.

In April 2024, a business forum held in Rabat brought together over 300 French and Moroccan entrepreneurs, resulting in the creation of a white paper that now serves as a roadmap for entrepreneurial cooperation between the two countries.

Organisers say the Dakhla forum will further operationalise the roadmap, providing a concrete platform for private sector actors to translate shared ambitions into tangible projects.

The event is expected to attract CEOs, senior executives, and government representatives, underlining the importance both nations attach to economic dialogue.

By focusing on innovative sectors and strategic investments, the forum aims to catalyse sustainable development and cross-border economic integration.

CGEM and MEDEF highlighted that Morocco’s southern regions, particularly Dakhla, are increasingly positioned as drivers of economic growth, attracting both domestic and international investors.

The forum also reflects a commitment to long-term collaboration, as both countries look to expand trade, foster innovation, and create opportunities that benefit businesses and communities on both sides of the Mediterranean.
