Morocco Participates in Arab Parliament Session on Regional Security, Economic and Social Issues in Cairo

Morocco took part on Saturday in the second plenary session of the 4th legislature’s second session of the Arab Parliament, held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo.

The session, chaired by Arab Parliament President Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, witnessed the election of Egypt’s Hicham El Hasri as Second Vice-President of the Parliament, as well as President of the Foreign Affairs, Political, and National Security Committee.

Moroccan parliamentarians joined their counterparts from across the Arab world in reviewing reports presented by the Palestine Committee and the Parliament’s four standing committees: the Foreign Affairs, Political and National Security Committee; the Economic and Financial Affairs Committee; the Legislative, Legal and Human Rights Committee; and the Social, Educational, Cultural, Women’s, and Youth Affairs Committee.

During the session, participants examined proposals put forward by the President of the Arab Parliament to establish dedicated forums for Arab women parliamentarians and young Arab parliamentarians, reflecting ongoing efforts to strengthen inclusivity and engagement in the legislative process.

The four standing committees deliberated on pressing regional matters. The Foreign Affairs, Political and National Security Committee discussed preparations for a workshop addressing the impact of artificial intelligence on Arab national security. The Economic and Financial Affairs Committee reviewed the latest developments in the economic situation across Arab countries.

The Committee on Legislative, Legal, and Human Rights Affairs explored a unified Arab parliamentary vision for consumer protection in the era of globalization. Meanwhile, the Committee on Social, Education, Culture, Women, and Youth Affairs presented a draft reference bill aimed at promoting mental health in educational institutions and supporting people with disabilities, a need that has grown following the recent escalation of violence in the Gaza Strip.

Morocco’s delegation underscored the Kingdom’s commitment to regional cooperation, particularly in addressing shared political, social, and economic challenges. Observers noted that Morocco’s active engagement in the Arab Parliament reflects its ongoing dedication to fostering stability, dialogue, and sustainable development across the Arab world.
