Morocco Reaffirms Commitment to Global Peace and Development at Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference in Islamabad

Morocco’s Speaker of the House of Councillors, Mohamed Ould Errachid, highlighted on Tuesday in Islamabad the Kingdom’s unwavering efforts, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, to promote peace, security, and sustainable development at both regional and international levels.

Speaking at the opening of the first Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC), Ould Errachid said that Morocco has made peace in all its dimensions — spiritual, social, environmental, health, and food — a cornerstone of its public policies and development strategies. He emphasized that the Kingdom works within the framework of international cooperation to support UN peacekeeping operations, while actively contributing to global efforts against terrorism, organized crime, and illegal immigration, in accordance with the principles of collective responsibility and human solidarity.

This comprehensive vision, he explained, has made Morocco a reliable and strategic partner for stability and development, not only in its immediate regional context but also across the Arab, African, and international arenas. The Moroccan approach, he added, reflects the country’s steadfast commitment to a multidimensional concept of security — one that combines peace, development, and cooperation based on coexistence and solidarity.

Ould Errachid cited several key initiatives that embody this vision, notably the Royal Atlantic Initiative for the Sahel, which seeks to transform the region into a zone of peace and shared prosperity; the African Atlantic Gas Pipeline project, which serves as a strategic energy bridge between Africa and Europe; and the Triple A Initiative for African agriculture adaptation to climate change. He also highlighted the African Migration Observatory, based in Rabat, and the Mohammed VI Institute for the Training of Imams, Morchidines and Morchidates, recognized globally as a model in countering extremism and promoting moderate Islam.

“These initiatives,” Ould Errachid said, “illustrate Morocco’s firm commitment to a holistic vision of security that integrates economic, social, environmental, and spiritual dimensions — all aimed at achieving lasting peace and sustainable development.”

He also underscored the vital role of the Moroccan Parliament in advancing peace and security both nationally and internationally, aligning with the far-sighted vision of King Mohammed VI, which advocates for regional stability, South-South cooperation, and the peaceful settlement of disputes in accordance with UN resolutions, international law, and the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.
