Morocco Receives Latest Abrams Tanks to Boost Ground Capabilities

The Royal Moroccan Armed Forces have received the new generation of American Abrams tanks, the "M1A2 SEPv3", to enhance the ground capabilities of the Moroccan army and increase deterrence, according to the global defense website "Shephard Media".

According to specialized reports in the defense field, Morocco has received 162 Abrams M1A2 SEPv3 tanks in recent weeks under a contract signed in October 2020 at a cost of $11.9 million, and has already begun to deploy these vehicles.

Shephard Media said that Morocco's acquisition of this advanced type of Abrams tank indicates the growing and high demand for this military vehicle used by the US Army, especially after General Dynamics Land Systems introduced many new additions and improvements that increased the effectiveness of this tank.

According to the new features announced regarding the upgrade that affected the Abrams tanks that Morocco received, it concerns the improvement of the effectiveness and efficiency of firing from the tank, in addition to equipping it with an engine that works in part with electricity, which reduces fuel consumption.

The capabilities of this tank to resist projectiles have also been increased, as well as its capabilities in the field of communication and sensing, which contributes to improving its efficiency during military operations, especially in times of attack. Therefore, the acquisition of these tanks by the Moroccan forces will increase their offensive capabilities at the ground level.

The Abrams M1A2 SEPv3 is the latest version of the Abrams tank, and it is considered to be one of the most advanced tanks in the world. It is equipped with a powerful 120-mm smoothbore gun, a state-of-the-art fire control system, and a variety of other advanced features that make it a formidable force on the battlefield.

The acquisition of these tanks by Morocco is a significant development, and it is likely to have a major impact on the country's military capabilities. The tanks will give the Moroccan army a significant edge over its adversaries, and they will help to deter aggression and maintain peace and stability in the region.
