Morocco, Russia Vow to Deepen Strategic Partnership in Upcoming Talks

Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, held a telephone conversation on Tuesday with his Russian counterpart, Serguei Lavrov, to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral ties and advancing political dialogue between the two countries.

According to a statement, the talks highlighted the traditionally friendly relations linking Morocco and Russia, which both ministers said have witnessed significant progress under the leadership of King Mohammed VI and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The two sides recalled the landmark visit of the King to Moscow in 2016, during which a deepened strategic partnership agreement was signed, laying the foundation for closer cooperation across multiple sectors.

Bourita and Lavrov emphasized the importance of building on the progress achieved since that visit and pledged to intensify efforts to further develop the partnership on issues of mutual interest.

The ministers also reviewed preparations for upcoming milestones in the bilateral agenda, most notably the 8th session of the Moroccan-Russian Joint Commission, which is expected to open new prospects for cooperation.

In addition to bilateral matters, the talks touched on regional and international developments. Both officials agreed to maintain regular political dialogue in a constructive spirit, anchored in mutual respect and shared commitment to stability.
