Morocco secured 8 million of COVID-19 vaccine, other shipments coming in March

Morocco has secured 8 million doses of COVID-19 so far, and other shipments will come to the country during next March, local media reported.

Two days ago, Morocco received a shipment of COVID-19 vaccine composed of 1 million AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccines; thus the number of doses of the Swedish-UK vaccine became 7 million in Morocco, according to the same sources.

Morocco also received on two occasions the Chinese Sinofarm vaccine, half a million doses in each shipment, which means that the country secured 1 million Chinese COVID-19 vaccines, and the overall count of vaccine doses that Morocco has now is 8 million.

Local media citing sources from the Ministry of Health said that Morocco would receive other vaccine shipments next month, adding that 4 million AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine doses are expected to arrive in Morocco in March.

Morocco started its national vaccination campaign on Jan. 28, after King Mohamed VI received the first shot. It has been a month now.

According to the daily statistics issued by the Ministry of Health, 3,327 858 people received the first dose of vaccine, while 96 437 received their second dose up to Friday, Feb. 26, at 6 p.m.
