Morocco Strengthens Cybersecurity with Appointment of Abdellah Boutrik as DGSSI Head

The General Directorate of Information Systems Security (DGSSI), under the National Defense Administration, announced on Monday that King Mohammed VI has appointed Lieutenant General Abdellah Boutrik as its new Director General.

In a statement published on its official website, the DGSSI said that King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, appointed Lieutenant General Boutrik to lead the Directorate.

According to the statement, Boutrik is a graduate of the National Institute of Statistics and Applied Economics (INSEA) and the Royal Military Academy in Meknes (Class of 1987). He also holds a Staff Course diploma, a Higher Defense Course certificate, and a Master’s degree in Security and Defense from the Royal College of Higher Military Studies.

Throughout his career, Boutrik has held several senior positions, including Director of Assistance, Training, Control, and Expertise at the DGSSI, as well as Deputy Inspector of the Royal Armed Forces’ Signal Corps.

The statement concluded that this appointment falls within Morocco’s ongoing efforts to strengthen cybersecurity and reflects the Kingdom’s firm commitment to safeguarding the national cyberspace as a strategic priority in its digital transformation process.
