Morocco Successfully Tests Israeli-Made EXTRA Missile

The Moroccan army carried out, last Thursday in the eastern region of the Kingdom, a successful test of the guided EXTRA missile, in a step that underscores the Royal Armed Forces’ commitment to strengthening their long-range missile capabilities.

According to the Israeli specialized website Nziv.net, the missile, with a diameter of 306 mm and a 120-kilogram warhead, hit its target with high precision at a distance of up to 150 kilometers, marking a significant milestone in Morocco’s progress in using advanced and high-accuracy launch systems.

The Royal Armed Forces also unveiled the PULS multiple launch platforms, acquired by the Kingdom from the Israeli company Elbit Systems. These platforms are capable of firing both EXTRA missiles and Predator Hawk missiles with a diameter of 370 mm and a range of up to 300 kilometers, granting Rabat a wider strategic margin in terms of military deterrence and long-distance combat capability.

This step comes as part of Morocco’s fast-paced modernization of its defense systems. The $150 million (approximately 1.6 billion dirhams) contract with Elbit Systems, to be implemented over three years, is a clear indication of Morocco’s determination to align with the highest international standards in long-range artillery, while enhancing the army’s ability to monitor and secure its borders.

The PULS defense system is considered one of the platforms capable of launching both guided and unguided rockets, making it a strategic addition to Morocco’s defense capabilities, which in recent years have increasingly relied on advanced technology in the military field.
