Morocco to receive new shipments of COVID-19 vaccine next week

Morocco would receive new shipments of COVID-19 vaccine next week, a Moroccan newspaper Al Massae said in a report today.

According to the same source, Morocco would receive two shipments, the first one from the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine manufactured in India and the second one from Chinese Sinopharm.

The newspaper didn’t mention the number of doses expected in both shipments; it instead said that the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine is expected to arrive in Morocco next week on Saturday.

Morocco has already secured 2 million and a half of COVID-19 vaccine doses two weeks ago, 2 million AstraZeneca- Oxford, and a half million Sinopharm.

Morocco is the first country in Africa to launch the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 after securing 2 million and a half of vaccine.

The health ministry has announced that Morocco intends to purchase more than 60 million vaccines to vaccinate 25 million citizens.
