Morocco Welcomes U.S.-Announced Ceasefire Agreement in Gaza

The Kingdom of Morocco has welcomed the announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates said on Thursday.

In a statement, the Ministry said that Morocco, whose King Mohammed VI, chairs the Al-Quds Committee, expresses its high esteem for the sustained initiatives and personal commitment of President Trump, which “decisively contributed to this hopeful result.”

The Kingdom also welcomed the continuous efforts of all mediators involved in reaching the ceasefire agreement.

Morocco called on all parties to fully implement the agreement “in order to preserve human lives, liberate hostages and prisoners, as well as deliver humanitarian aid quickly and in sufficient quantities.”

The statement added that the Kingdom also urges the launch of the reconstruction process and the opening of prospects for “a just, comprehensive, and lasting solution to the Palestinian cause.”

Reaffirming its long-standing position, Morocco reiterated its unwavering commitment to the two-state solution “as the only basis for achieving a just and lasting peace in the region.”

The Kingdom said this solution should be achieved “through the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian State at the June 4, 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Asharif as its capital, including the Gaza Strip, and living side by side with the State of Israel, in security and peace.”

The statement also emphasized that Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, will remain engaged in supporting all efforts aimed at consolidating peace and stability in the region.

It further noted that the Kingdom reiterates “its full availability to actively contribute to all the agreed-upon steps and processes, in order to guarantee the rights of the Palestinian people and support the stability of the Middle Eastern region.”

The announcement comes as the ceasefire agreement, brokered with U.S. mediation, was widely welcomed as a step toward ending the current cycle of violence in Gaza.

The statement concludes by reaffirming Morocco’s principled stance in favour of dialogue, peace, and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, consistent with the Kingdom’s historic role as Chair of the Al-Quds Committee.
