Morocco's ambassador: Malian authorities open investigation into killing of two Moroccan drivers

Hassan Naciri, Morocco's ambassador to Mali, said in a statement to Assahifa Arabic, that the Malian security authorities have begun investigations into the criminal act that targeted a Moroccan commercial convoy, which led to the killing of two Moroccan drivers and the injury of a third, in the town of Didieni, Kayes region, last Saturday.

The Moroccan ambassador added that Morocco submitted a request to the Malian authorities to open an investigation into the crime, and the latter agreed, and confirmed that it would do what is necessary to find the perpetrators who committed this criminal act, which the Malian Foreign Minister strongly condemned.

In his talk with Assahifa, the Moroccan ambassador did not confirm the circulated news about the possibility of the involvement of the separatist "Polisario" fighters in this bloody attack.

The Moroccan ambassador highlighted that "the investigation will take its time before the results appear," adding, "Now we cannot talk about anything, because the investigation will be field and extensive, and we will remain informed of its developments”.

As for the condition of the injured Moroccan citizen, Naciri said that it is "relatively good."

This armed attack, which targeted Moroccan drivers on their way to the capital, Bamako, led to the death of two and the injury of a third, while the fourth driver managed to escape with his life.

The interesting thing is that the attackers did not steal the contents of the truck, which suggests the hypothesis of a "terrorist act".
