Morocco's Automotive Sector Exports Up 12.8% at End of November

Morocco's Exports of the automotive sector reached MAD 75.08 billion at the end of November 2021, up 12.8% compared to the same period in 2020, according to the Office des Changes (exchange office).

This development is due to the increase in sales of the construction segment of 26.2%, said the Office, which has published its monthly indicators of foreign trade for the month of November, noting that sales of the wiring segment have declined slightly by 1.1%.

In addition, the Office indicated that the number of passenger cars exported showed an increase of 12.8% to 317,068 vehicles to end November 2021.

Regarding the sales of phosphates and derivatives, they are established at more than MAD 69.19 billion at the end of November 2021, up 51.9% compared to the same period in 2020. This development follows the increase in sales of natural and chemical fertilizers (+MAD 14.73 bln) due to the price effect up 65.4%. The quantities exported of this product, meanwhile, fell by 8.6%.

The sales of the textile and leather sector stood at MAD 33.49 billion, against MAD 27.74 billion a year earlier. This situation is dependent on the increase in exports of ready-made garments (+MAD 4.08 bln), hosiery (+MAD 1.57 bln) and to a lesser extent shoes (+MAD 181 mln).

For their part, exports of the sector of agriculture and agribusiness increased by 10.2%, thanks to a simultaneous rise in sales of the food industry of MAD 3.37 billion, while those of agriculture, forestry and hunting increased by MAD 2.27 billion.

However, the share of sales of this sector in total exports has lost 2.3 points, standing at 21.5% against 23.8% at the end of November 2020, notes the Office.
