Morocco's King VI Calls for Greater Synergy Between Major National Projects and Social Programs to Advance Inclusive Development

Morocco's King Mohammed VI today inaugurated the first session of the fifth legislative year of the 11th Parliament, delivering a speech that focused on the importance of ensuring complementarity between major national projects and social programs.

The King stressed that “there should be no contradiction or competition between major national projects and social programs, as long as the goal is to develop the country and improve the living conditions of citizens wherever they may be.”

He emphasized that social justice and the fight against territorial disparities are not empty slogans or temporary priorities, but rather a strategic orientation that must be upheld by all stakeholders. “We consider it a strategic direction that all actors must commit to,” the King said.

King Mohammed VI also underlined the need to accelerate the pace of territorial development programs and to expand their impact on the new generation, recalling that the government had been instructed to prepare these programs within a framework of “win-win” relations between urban and rural areas.

“We expect a faster pace and a stronger impact from the new generation of territorial development programs, which we have instructed the government to prepare within a win-win framework between urban and rural areas,” the King stated, adding that these efforts should focus on priority issues, foremost among them the promotion of local initiatives and economic activities, the creation of job opportunities for young people, and the advancement of the education and health sectors.

The King concluded his speech with a clear message to both Parliament and the government, calling for the mobilization of all energies and resources, and for prioritizing the interests of the nation and its citizens.

“We expect from all of you—government and parliament, majority and opposition alike—to mobilize all energies and resources, to place the higher interests of the nation and citizens above all else. May God help you to be worthy of the trust placed in you, and of the responsibility you bear. Serving the nation requires integrity, commitment, and selflessness."
