Morocco’s Police Chief Hammouchi Visits UAE to Bolster Security Cooperation

The Director General of Morocco’s National Police (DGSN-DGST), Abdellatif Hammouchi, is paying a working visit to the United Arab Emirates, accompanied by a high-level security delegation.

According to a statement from the DGSN-DGST, the visit, which began on September 23, seeks to reinforce the security partnership between the two countries and deepen bilateral cooperation in areas of policing and security.

During his stay, Morocco’s top police official held talks with Talal Rashid Al Zaabi, Director of the UAE’s State Security Service, who was also joined by a senior delegation.

The meeting provided an opportunity for bilateral consultations on a number of issues of mutual concern, the same source said.

Discussions covered regional and global security threats, particularly the challenges posed by terrorism and extremism in conflict zones worldwide.

Special focus was placed on the Sahel region, which has become a hotbed of instability and a growing concern for regional and international security.

The two sides also reviewed prospects for enhancing operational cooperation between their agencies to combat cross-border organized crime.

This includes activating joint security operation mechanisms and developing frameworks for their effective implementation.

According to the DGSN-DGST statement, the talks further highlighted the importance of diversifying and expanding bilateral cooperation.

In this regard, both parties stressed the need to strengthen the exchange of expertise across various security domains.

They also underlined the crucial role of coordination and information sharing in building a comprehensive response to emerging threats.

The aim, the statement added, is to ensure both Morocco and the UAE maintain a firm, proactive posture against hostile acts that could endanger their national security.

This visit comes as part of Morocco’s broader strategy to deepen international security partnerships and respond to evolving global security challenges.

By reinforcing ties with the UAE, Rabat is seeking to consolidate cooperation with Gulf partners in tackling terrorism, organized crime, and other transnational threats.
