Other half-million Moroccans going to be vaccinated

Morocco received on Sunday a new batch of Covid-19 vaccine composed of more than 1 million Sinopharm’s vaccine doses from China.

According to Moroccan health authorities, two of Morocco’s aircraft carriers landed yesterday at Casablanca airport carrying 1 million and 160 thousand vaccine doses coming from Chinses capital, Beijing.

The Ministry of Health in Morocco has announced the extension of the people categories that will benefit from the vaccine in the coming days, people aged between 50 and 55.

This new batch of vaccines is the second biggest batch that Morocco has received in one shipment, after 2 million doses it received from India in February from the AstraZeneca-oxford vaccine.

Morocco now is able to vaccinate more than half a million of its citizens with this batch of vaccines, which means that the vaccinated population in the country would reach 6 million.

Morocco is still the only African nation to reach this far in terms of vaccination, as no African country has not yet reached one million people who received the vaccine.
