Prime Minister of Spain indicates the existence of efforts to overcome crisis with Morocco

The Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, indicated in a press conference, Thursday, that there are moves and steps to restore bilateral relations between Spain and Morocco after the diplomatic crisis that afflicted the relations between the two countries over the issue of the ‘Polisario’ leader.

According to Europe Press, Sanchez refused to disclose the current moves to restore the relations with the Kingdom of Morocco and appealed not to ask about them, contenting to emphasize once again that Morocco is an important "strategic partner" of Spain.

This statement from the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, confirmed what several Spanish media reports had indicated, quoting diplomats and Spanish officials, talking about the existence of "secret" contacts and moves to overcome the dispute with Rabat as soon as possible and restore bilateral diplomatic relations between the two parties.

And it was the crisis of Brahim Ghali, the leader of the Polisario Front, that ignited the dispute between the two countries last April and led to a diplomatic rupture, after it was revealed that Brahim Ghali had entered Spain secretly in order to receive treatment for his infection with the Coronavirus, as he was admitted to San Pedro Hospital in Logroño, in coordination between Algeria and Spain.

It was the Moroccan intelligence that monitored this entry, and disclosed the information to the French magazine "John Afrique", which in turn published the news on its pages, then transmitted it to various international media, and caused a crisis with Morocco, which considered that Spain's hosting of the Polisario leader, who is in conflict with Morocco on its Sahara provinces, it is a blow to the good neighborly relations between the two countries.
