Talks in Paris Focus on Morocco-France Cooperation in Shifting to Renewable Energy

Strengthening cooperation between Morocco and France in the field of energy transition was the focus of talks between the Minister for Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, and several French ministers.

As such Benali held talks on Thursday with Christophe Béchu, Minister for Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion, Bruno Le Maire, Minister of the Economy, Franck Riester, Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade, Economic Attractiveness, Francophonie and French Nationals Abroad, and Roland Lescure, Minister Delegate for Industry and Energy.

The talks provided an opportunity to welcome the new dynamic in bilateral relations and Morocco's key role as a corridor between Africa and Europe.

They also provided an opportunity to discuss partnership opportunities, notably in the fields of sustainable energy, green hydrogen, the circular economy, the sustainability of sporting and cultural events, and the integration of energy and carbon markets. Certification and standards, as well as critical minerals, were also discussed.

Particular emphasis has been placed on research and innovation and the development of human capital.

The Minister also hosted a meeting at the French Institute of International Relations (IFRI), organized in partnership with the Paris Energy Club Foundation, on the theme of “Morocco's energy transition and regional integration”.

The meeting, attended by climate and energy experts, business leaders and diplomats, was an opportunity for Benali to highlight the Kingdom's strategic orientations in the field of energy transition and their prospects in the context of the economic and geopolitical changes taking place in the world.
