Morocco's Football Performances Continue to Make Africa Proud, Says CAF Chief

Thanks to its performances, Morocco is still the pride of Africa, the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, said on Wednesday.

"We all know how proud Morocco made us and Africa during the Qatar World Cup. I am perfectly sure that Morocco will continue in the same vein to make us even prouder," said Motsepe on his arrival at Rabat-Salé airport, to attend the opening of the Futsal African Cup of Nations (Morocco-2024).

The CAF chief also thanked the Kingdom for hosting this Futsal AFCON, adding that "there are times when Morocco remains the only country capable of organizing some African competitions.”

The official also pointed out that several African countries, whose stadiums do not meet the required standards, play their matches in Morocco.

He also mentioned that he had visited a stadium in Sao Tomé, built with the contribution of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, expressing his thanks to HM King Mohammed VI for his efforts to promote football in Africa.

The 2024 CAF Futsal AFCON will be held on April 11-21 at the Ibn Yassine Hall and the Sports Hall at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.

Morocco will compete in Group A alongside Angola, Ghana and Zambia, while Group B includes Egypt, Libya, Namibia and Mauritania.

Morocco, who also hosted the previous edition of the CAF Futsal AFCON in 2020, are two-time defending champions.
