Spanish Daily Marca Hails Hassan II Grand Stadium as Future “Temple” of 2030 World Cup

The Spanish sports daily Marca has devoted a special feature to the future Hassan II Grand Stadium in Casablanca, describing the mega-project as an “engineering masterclass” and a future “temple” of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

According to the specialized newspaper, the stadium—designed to accommodate up to 115,000 spectators—stands out for its exceptional ambition and scale, representing an unprecedented technological leap not only for Morocco but for the African continent as a whole.

Marca reports that the Hassan II Grand Stadium received the highest evaluation among the stadiums proposed by the three co-host countries of the 2030 World Cup—Morocco, Spain, and Portugal—earning an impressive score of 4.3 out of 5 from FIFA inspectors.

The Spanish outlet places particular emphasis on the venue’s architectural concept, which draws inspiration from traditional Moroccan tents and will be spread across a vast 140-hectare site. The newspaper notes that the defining ring structure of the stadium is so large that it would take several minutes to circle it by car.

In terms of accessibility and infrastructure, Marca highlights that the stadium will be directly connected to Casablanca and Rabat through a modern motorway network, enhancing regional mobility and logistics during major sporting events.

The project will also incorporate cutting-edge technological features, including an advanced internal communication system and a next-generation hybrid pitch specifically adapted to Morocco’s climatic conditions, reinforcing the venue’s status as a world-class facility.

Beyond the 2030 World Cup, the Spanish daily notes that the Hassan II Grand Stadium is expected to host the headquarters of the Moroccan national team and serve as the home ground for Casablanca’s iconic clubs, Wydad and Raja, further boosting the city’s sporting stature.

Marca concludes by recalling that the stadium forms part of Morocco’s broader strategy of infrastructural excellence, a vision already demonstrated through the Kingdom’s preparations to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, positioning Morocco as a leading sporting hub on the international stage.
