Morocco Generates 34 Billion Dirhams in Tourism Revenue in Four Months

Morocco's tourism sector generated 34 billion dirhams in foreign currency revenues during the first four months of 2025, marking a 7.5% increase compared to the same period in the previous year, according to Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, who spoke on Monday before the House of Representatives.

Responding to a question from the National Rally of Independents (RNI) parliamentary group on the “roadmap to establish a new structure for the national tourism offer and enhance its attractiveness,” Minister Ammor said the sector has made a strong and swift recovery, thanks to the vision of King Mohammed VI and the government’s support following the COVID-19 crisis.

She added that these achievements are the result of an emergency plan worth 2 billion dirhams, in addition to the 2023–2026 roadmap, which has a budget of 6.1 billion dirhams. The roadmap has been delivering positive results since 2024 and continues to do so.

The minister noted that Morocco welcomed 5.7 million tourists between January and April 2025—a 23% increase compared to the same period in 2024. The number of overnight stays exceeded 9 million, representing a 15% rise.

Ammor emphasized that the tourism roadmap is built around a customer-centric vision, focusing on nine thematic value chains and five cross-cutting ones, to ensure that all regions of the Kingdom benefit from the tourism momentum in line with their potential.
