Morocco’s national carrier, Royal Air Maroc (RAM), inaugurated on Monday a new direct flight connecting Casablanca to Munich, in a move set to bolster air connectivity and economic exchange between Morocco and Germany.
The inaugural flight, operated twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays, departed from Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport at 13:30 and landed at Munich International Airport at 18:00, one of the key air hubs in Bavaria, Germany’s largest federal state.
A reception ceremony took place at Munich Airport’s boarding area, featuring the traditional ribbon-cutting event attended by representatives of the Moroccan embassy in Berlin, RAM executives, airport officials, and members of the Moroccan and African communities in Germany. Passengers joining the first flight celebrated the occasion with a cake-cutting ceremony and a convivial gathering alongside the airline’s team.
According to RAM, the new Casablanca–Munich connection serves as a strategic bridge between Morocco and Germany, designed to stimulate economic, cultural, and technological cooperation while responding to growing travel demand between the two countries and nearby markets such as Austria and Switzerland.
Munich now becomes RAM’s second regular destination in Germany, following Frankfurt. The Moroccan flag carrier already operates a daily Casablanca–Frankfurt route, in addition to seasonal services linking Düsseldorf and Frankfurt with the Moroccan cities of Nador and Oujda.
The new route is expected to benefit a wide range of passengers, including tourists, business travelers, and members of the Moroccan and African diaspora residing in southern Germany. It also enhances tourism prospects by enabling German tour operators to market travel packages to Morocco directly from Munich and Frankfurt.
Furthermore, the route strengthens Munich’s position as a gateway for German passengers seeking to access Royal Air Maroc’s extensive African network, particularly in West Africa, where the Moroccan carrier has established itself as a key connector between Europe and the continent.
RAM emphasized that the launch of the new line aligns with its broader strategy to expand its international network and support Morocco’s ambitions to become a leading hub for air transport and investment in Africa.
