In a bid to strengthen parliamentary cooperation, the Speaker of Morocco’s House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, held talks on Wednesday in Rabat with the Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives, Milton Dick, who is paying a working visit to the Kingdom.
According to a press release from the Lower House, the meeting stressed the importance of reinforcing the role of parliamentary friendship groups, increasing mutual visits, and exchanging experiences and best practices in parliamentary work. Both sides also underscored the need for closer coordination within regional and international parliamentary bodies.
The talks provided an opportunity to welcome the positive momentum marking bilateral relations between Rabat and Canberra, reflecting a shared will to strengthen bridges of multidimensional cooperation and further consolidate the longstanding ties of friendship between the two countries and their peoples.
Talbi Alami and Dick also highlighted the role played by Morocco and Australia in promoting international peace and security, noting the convergence of their positions on key principles of international relations, including respect for international law, the peaceful settlement of disputes, respect for state sovereignty and territorial integrity, and non-interference in internal affairs.
During the meeting, Talbi Alami outlined the major reforms and strategic projects launched in Morocco under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, spanning political, economic and social fields, which have contributed to positioning the Kingdom as a model of stability and development in its regional environment.
He further reviewed Morocco’s relations with African countries and the Kingdom’s development initiatives across the continent, emphasizing the importance of Morocco’s regional and international partnerships in light of its strategic geographical position.
