New Operations Hub Opens at Casablanca Airport to Boost Efficiency

The National Airports Office (ONDA) has commissioned a state-of-the-art Airport Operational Center at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, marking a major milestone in strengthening the operational organization of Morocco’s busiest airport.

According to an ONDA statement, the new strategic facility is designed to play a central role in ensuring smooth airport operations during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), as well as other major international events that Morocco is expected to host in the coming years.

The center functions as a unified hub for supervision and coordination, bringing together all key stakeholders involved in airport operations within a single shared space. This integrated approach is aimed at improving decision-making, responsiveness and real-time coordination across airport services.

Participating entities include services under the Ministry of the Interior, the National Police, the Royal Gendarmerie, the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration, airlines, ground handling companies, the airport operator, air navigation and air traffic control services, alongside maintenance and information technology teams.

Operating continuously, 24 hours a day and seven days a week, the center now acts as the airport’s operational nerve center. It oversees critical processes such as aircraft operations planning and coordination, runway and parking stand management, ground traffic control, baggage handling for departures and arrivals, resource monitoring, and passenger flow coordination.

Its responsibilities also extend to managing congestion at security checkpoints, supervising boarding procedures, and integrating mobility, traffic and parking management. In addition, the center monitors critical infrastructure, maintenance operations, and coordinates safety and security systems.

For passengers, ONDA says the new facility will result in shorter waiting times, smoother travel experiences and access to real-time operational information. Airlines are also expected to benefit from improved coordination of resources, reduced delays and enhanced overall operational efficiency.
